Chapter 9, Constructive Ideas
Once out of Captain He’s sight, Comrade Mu Ke came back to life. Upon opening her eyes, she saw that Xiang Wei was also present. Playfully sticking out her tongue, she whispered, "I really feel a bit dizzy." Her demeanor clearly indicated a sense of guilt.
The military training proceeded as scheduled without being affected by the minor incident; however, the instructor He Hongxun became even stricter, seemingly applying the standards of military training to demand more from the counselors
Withdrawing the gaze of admiration directed at He Hongxun, I exchanged a glance with He Yicheng and, stifling a laugh, said to Xiang Wei: "Then let us continue, Teacher Mu"
"Cover for me?" The gaze directed at Xiang Wei was filled with sorrow, and Mu Ke murmured, "It seems that you are not dead yet; I might die first."
According to reason, He Yicheng's military rank and position should be higher than He Hongxun's, and He Hongxun should salute first. However, the empty embrace and the dissatisfied gaze directed at him made him quite uncomfortable. Thus, Captain He returned a cold act of defiance to Chief of Staff He—a silence.
Seeing the two of them at odds, Xiang Wei quickly stepped in with a hint of self-interest to mediate: "Look at how frail he appears; it would be good for him to exercise more..."
Muko knelt on the bed and wiped his hand across Wei's chin, frowning as he said, "Fortunately, no saliva came out." He then turned to He Yicheng and asked, "Why aren't you participating? If you peel an apple for me, I wouldn't dare not eat it. You say to follow orders, and I wouldn't dare cause any trouble. Isn't that enough?"
Knowing that he was anxious about her body, Mu Ke softened and, feigning a delicate demeanor, pleaded: "I beg you, please don't be angry. I promise to eat on time in the future and not be picky. Isn't that enough? Sir, you are magnanimous, so please forgive me this once."
In a daze, she heard a knock on the door. Lazily, Muko poked her head out from under the blanket and stared at the door without responding. Just when she thought the person outside had left, the door was gently pushed open. She quickly closed her eyes, listening to the approaching footsteps, feeling an inexplicable tension rise within her. With a woman's strong intuition, she guessed that the visitor was—He Hongxun
Mu Ke noticed that Xiang Wei was becoming increasingly nagging, and she covered her ears, shouting: "Just stop making things worse. If you don't want to go home, then go aside and take a break."
He He Hongxun's expression was very calm. He raised his hand to gently touch Mu Ke's disheveled hair, as tender as a caress between lovers. Staring at her flushed face, he said in a measured tone: "There is no need to be nervous; I am merely suggesting a constructive idea for you to consider."
As she leaned into his embrace, she instinctively grasped his arm and, with her eyes closed, weakly uttered, "I feel faint."
He Yi was somewhat surprised that He Hongxun was in charge of the military training at C University. He had originally been looking forward to competing with him in the reconnaissance soldier competition to redeem the shame of being captured, but he did not expect to see such a scene upon arriving at the training base. Instinctively tightening his embrace around Mu Ke, he bit his lip and silently gazed at He Hongxun.
"Who? Ah, you mean him." Mu Ke obediently lay down, not willing to let go of the apple in his hand, and casually said: "I also think it's too coincidental; at that time, he was still a company commander."
He Yicheng also smiled, noticing that Mu Ke's complexion was indeed poor. Supporting her, he walked towards the infirmary while saying, "Your courage is growing; you actually dared to play tricks right under He Hongxun's nose."
"When I am willing to argue with you? I said that if I want to participate, I must participate." Muko's stubborn temper flared up, and in a childish manner, she threw the half-eaten apple onto the ground
Muko's blood sugar is low; excessive excitement, fatigue, or hunger can all cause her to feel dizzy. However, this time the discomfort does not stem entirely from her physical condition, but rather from her little ostrich mentality
She glared back at Wei and began to scold her: "It was hard enough not to be punished for being late, and now look, I have to go play games with Tushuo under the scorching sun, running around and sweating profusely. It's a wonder I don't faint. If I can't even take care of myself, what does that make me?"
Xiang Wei was amused and laughed by the two people
Xiang Wei was alarmed upon hearing this, jumping up and shouting at Mu Ke: "Mu Ke, if anything happens to my idol, I won't let you off the hook."
Mu Ke looked at his calm face and somewhat guiltily reflected, "I know I shouldn't be too excited, too tired, or too hungry. I also carry sugar and chocolate with me, but I overslept this morning. Surely, you wouldn't want me to be punished by standing in a military posture, would you?"
Surprisingly even more arrogant than him. Staring at He Hongxun's back, He Yicheng was so angry that his teeth itched
What trickery? Mu Ke protested: "They are truly confused!" However, the reason for their confusion is somewhat difficult to articulate
Seeing Mu Ke acting unreasonable, Xiang Wei couldn't help but wish to reprimand her. After all, she was just a patient, and it was not worth stooping to her level. She snatched the apple from Mu Ke's hand and took a bite, then said to He Yicheng: "It's getting late, you should head back. I'll stay here with her." As Mu Ke's close friend, Xiang Wei was quite familiar with He Yicheng; otherwise, they wouldn't have come to the training base together.
"What a joke about exercising." Before Xiang Wei could finish speaking, He Yicheng shouted back. Seeing Mu Ke's unyielding demeanor, his anger flared up immediately. He threw down the words: "Let's see how he trains you!" and left.
Watching He Yicheng leave, Xiang Wei stood by the bed, scratching her head and muttering to herself: "It's the first time I've seen my idol lose his temper." In her impression, He Yicheng, as a soldier, had always been gentle towards Mu Ke and had never lost his temper; today was indeed the first time he had been so fierce.
Regarding the suggestion of "accompanying care" proposed to Wei, Muko held a contrary attitude. She tilted her head and looked at He Yicheng, speaking in an authoritative tone: "Take her away as well, the sooner the better." She snatched back the apple and said with dissatisfaction: "It's not for you anyway."
Upon hearing this, the seemingly asleep Mu Ke instantly stiffened, and her long eyelashes trembled involuntarily
Watching Muko being affectionately held in He Yicheng's embrace, He Hongxun's deep-set eyes stirred with waves of emotion, only to be inexplicably quelled soon after. His expression remained impassive, just as it had during the time when the entire reconnaissance battalion had been utterly humiliated by others, maintaining a calm demeanor in the face of adversity.
Seeing Mu Ke's determined expression, Xiang Wei felt reassured. Then, recalling He Hongxun's cool demeanor, she slapped her forehead: "I need to call my dad. I've made up my mind; I will stay and cover for you"
He Yicheng's expression was somewhat grim: "It's only been a few days and you've already fainted? Can you handle the training subjects below? What will happen if you faint again?"
He Yicheng did not look up, completely shutting her out
Su Tianyin could clearly sense that he was in a bad mood, so even though she felt like she was going to go crazy standing at attention, she could only think to herself that if Mu Ke were here, that little girl would definitely rebel, and as for her, she could only obediently endure the training
He Yicheng sat silently on the edge of the bed, peeling an apple by himself
He He Hongxun did not go to the cafeteria for a meal. After finishing a day of training, he sat in the office for a long time, only going downstairs after He Yicheng's car had left. After a fierce internal struggle, he decided to come and see her. His gaze lingered on Mu Ke's small face with closed eyes, and he stood by the bed for quite a while without saying a word
"Isn't he handsome?" Mu Ke lay down under the quilt and said, "Then you should thank me for provoking him." Thinking of He Yicheng's temper, she blinked her big innocent eyes and said, "Will he get so angry that he mistakes the accelerator for the brake?"
Seeing the pitiful state of Keke, Wei couldn't help but speak up for her: "Chief of Staff He, please don't blame Keke. She is a good person in every way, just a bit slow-witted."
Then just get back up, what else can be done
Moments later, He Hongxun shifted his gaze from He Yicheng to Mu Ke. Noticing her eyes closed and her brows tightly furrowed, he finally raised his hand to salute in a military manner and said in a deep voice: "I trouble Chief of Staff He to take the trainee Mu Ke to the infirmary for an examination; she need not participate in the military training this afternoon." He then shouted at Yuan Shuai: "Assemble!"
The two individuals gazed at each other, seemingly forgetting that a young girl was fainting and awaiting rescue. Even the officers present sensed the strange atmosphere, exchanging glances in silence.
Ignoring Wei's admiration, He Yicheng spoke with a slightly unfriendly tone: "That person is not bad, there is some real substance to him." Thinking of He Hongxun's severity, he said in an irrefutable tone: "There is no need to participate in the military training, I will handle it."
When He Hongxun thought of Mu Ke being embraced by him, a wave of emotions surged in his eyes. He Yicheng said: "Stop wasting time talking to me here; if I say I won't participate, then I won't participate"
Seeing him finish peeling the apple, Muko skillfully reached out to take it. Unexpectedly, He Yicheng brought it to her mouth. She was momentarily taken aback, then sat up abruptly to snatch it, biting into it as if to vent her frustration, chewing vigorously for a moment. With her cheeks puffed out, she mumbled, "I have been listening to your instructions and following your commands, but it was just a game, and I got so excited that I forgot to pay attention."
Just when she was about to give up, He Hongxun suddenly bent down, gently pulled the blanket for her, and said with rare tenderness: "You are quite likable. If you don't dislike me, shall we be together?"
However, Yuan Shuai was well aware of the boss's temperament and knew that this matter was far from over. Otherwise, the company commander who returned to his own territory wouldn't have been so furious that he nearly broke the soldiers' bones. Do not misunderstand; He Hongxun did not beat them, but rather, he implemented something even more lethal. He adjusted the training program overnight, raising the intensity to levels comparable to that of special forces. Therefore, it can be said that the soldiers of the reconnaissance battalion were indeed rigorously "hammered" into shape.
Muko wanted to take a nap, so she sent Xiang Wei outside to make a phone call. The room fell silent, and she closed her eyes, unconsciously recalling the events of the afternoon, her small face flushed as if on fire. Pulling the blanket over her head, she began to count sheep: "One, two, three, four, five..."
Is silence really golden these days? Mu Ke pondered to himself.
Thinking about how she had just unceremoniously thrown herself onto He Hongxun and left "evidence" on his neck, she wished she could find a crack in the ground to hide in. The sudden visit from He Yicheng, who came to see her, naturally became her lifeline.
He Yi Cheng made a sound of acknowledgment and, upon reaching the door of the infirmary, remarked, "Still has the energy to argue, it seems to be a case of mild fainting." Upon seeing the military doctor, he said, "There is a patient with mild fainting here, please take a look."
If I had known that the instructor was him, I would have come much earlier. Ah, I find Instructor He even more handsome now
He Yicheng checked the time, got up to cover Mu Ke with a blanket, and finally spoke: "Did Xiang Wei say that your instructor for the military training in your freshman year is also him?"
"Look at you like that; if one didn't know better, they might think he is your boyfriend." Mu Ke sighed helplessly and kindly reassured, "Don't worry, as soon as I leave his sight, he will calm down immediately; that speed is definitely like autumn winds sweeping away fallen leaves"
"Because of low blood sugar, I have to be hospitalized; there is no second person like this on the entire planet." Leaning against the headboard, Mu Ke said: "Chief of Staff He, I just missed a meal and am a bit tired; there is really no need to make such a fuss. It is wrong to disturb the people and waste resources."
Ah? Xiang Wei's reaction was particularly strong, and with a look of regret, she said: "What a pity."
Certainly, there are components that can cause dizziness, but the levels require further research. However, understanding her character in Heyi City will make it clear that, although one might mistakenly think this girl is too tired to participate in military training, the outcome is the same. She calmly provided cover for Muko and remained more composed than He Hongxun during the confrontation
Mu Ke shot her a sidelong glance and said, "What kind of talk is that?"
